SUMMARY
Nine-year old Robbie Stanley was content to stay inside, playing on his computer and watching TV rather than going outside and interacting with the neighborhood kids.
That is, until one afternoon when he happens across a soccer game while flipping through the TV channels.
Immediately, Robbie is transfixed upon the dragon adorning the Greensboro players & uniforms.  At that defining moment, Robbie decides that he wants to play soccer.
While this may be a rather routine task for any other child, Robbie, who has been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome (AS),finds that playing soccer sets him on a course on which he has never embarked before.
Although Robbie is excited about his new adventure, his mother is unsure how her son will react in situations to which he is not accustomed. Of more pressing concern, is how other children will act towards him.
Experience the trials and tribulations of Robbie as he participates in organized sports for the first time. |

"Beyond the Dragon is another 'Hail Mary' Story."
"Robbie is an inspirational character that gives all kids with Aspergers as well as parents, coaches and teachers the hope that they can achieve their goals if they work hard and are surrounded by a supportive team. This story is also an important lesson for kids to accept and encourage all teammates no matter what their abilities are."

" I really felt that this book would be excellent in schools in
the typical classroom setting to get students to discuss the
differences and similarities of children diagnosed on the
spectrum. There are a lot of discussion points in your
book that could really get children thinking, and create
some awareness for children diagnosed on the spectrum.
It was a nicely written piece that shows your true respect
for children and families affected by ASD."
